FINLEGSIG Meeting - Wat een notaris doet

Although notaries public operate in common-law jurisdictions, the Dutch civil-law notary has different duties.

They occupy a much more important place in the legal hierarchy. And, as many of us know, that means that civil-law notaries and/or their clients often need the services of editors and translators. So, a description of what they do is more than useful.

We’re grateful that Meester René van Kaam, a Dutch civil-law notary with 17 years’ experience and practicing in Someren, North Brabant, has kindly agreed to talk to, and answer questions from, a FINLEGSIG audience on the subject of

Wat een notaris doet

René will give his talk in Dutch.

All are welcome but … there’s only space for 12 people. So please advise John Hynd johnedmund51@gmail.com by end Sunday October 21st at the latest if you’re planning to come. Wine and modest nibbles will be served, of course.

The exact address is Minervalaan 42/2, 1077PB Amsterdam. Unless the weather is foul, or walking isn’t your thing, the simplest way, if you’re coming from Amsterdam-Zuid railway station, is to walk straight up the Minervalaan into town towards the Hilton Hotel and, after about 15 minutes, you’ll find it on your left.

NB: We hope shortly to announce an event more specifically designed for financial translators and editors, also to take place this autumn.

John Alexander & John Hynd, conveners.
