As editors and translators of medical and biomedical texts, we often encounter unfamiliar terms or terms that seem to be the result of second-language interference. The challenge of course is identifying whether a term is either just "bad English" or is actually a new term that's worked its way into the field, then edit accordingly. In this semi-round-table discussion, we'll talk about how to navigate the minefield of ever-changing (bio)medical terms and techniques. I and others will share examples from recent papers and discuss how we solved them, with the ultimate goal of helping empower you with the confidence to tackle these types of texts.
