The meeting is intended as a first step towards setting up an ongoing SIG for teachers and trainers, which could meet two to three times a year and provide a platform for discussion on our wide-ranging interests and concerns, as well as an opportunity for networking.

The plan is to start with an introduction round and mention the topics that interest us most. So far only a few subjects have been mentioned (how can we make sure students get the greatest benefit from lessons, how to teach writing, marking criteria) but once we’re together I’m sure there will be others. We can then decide to split up into smaller discussion groups or not, depending on the turnout and our interests.

Afterwards, we could go downstairs for drinks or even continue the conversation over dinner if people are interested.

Also up for discussion is where, when and how often this new SIG should meet in the future.
